New Caledonian Woodlands
New Caledonian Woodlands runs the Fruitful Woods project bringing together groups of adults experiencing mental ill health to reconnect with nature and learn to make and sell environmentally sustainable artisan produce, including; apple jams, juices and chutneys, hand carved spoons, chopping boards, wooden stools and willow garden decorations.
“New Caledonian Woodlands is a charity and social/environmental enterprise that benefits both people and planet. Fruitful Woods, our latest project, is an opportunity for participants to gain confidence and life skills and to be a part of a social and environmental enterprise that is championing the value of our local woodlands and orchards. Offering year-long placements for adults who have been experiencing a period of mental ill health, participants are involved in managing woodlands and orchards and in making environmentally sustainable, artisan produce. All the materials used in production are locally sourced, sustainable, environmentally friendly and assist in creating a more bio-diverse Scotland. Any profits from Fruitful Woods are reinvested back into the charity to help expand and enhance on the work already being carried out.
Our mission is simple – give people the security of home ownership, without the burden of debt.”
